These principles guide how The Cúm Cult operates and how every safety decision is made.

Consent-first

Everything starts with consent. The checker exists to help people make informed, consensual choices about who they engage with — never to surveil, shame, or pressure anyone.

Evidence before rumours

A nomination opens a private review — it is not a listing and never a verdict. Concerns are weighed on evidence, kept confidential during review, and a username is only ever added through an explicit, human moderation decision.

AI assists, humans decide

AI helps summarise and organise case notes so moderators can work efficiently, but it never makes the call. Listings, reviews, and outcomes are always decided by people.

Privacy by default

Most members only ever see a simple safety note — never the underlying report. Sensitive context and evidence are tiered by role and kept private, visible only to those who need them.

Free, and independent of funding

The checker is free to use and always will be. Community support helps cover running costs but does not influence moderation decisions, blocklist reviews, or safety outcomes.
